Customers are mixed about the vibration of the sewing machine. How do you say garbage in Portuguese?
The Brazil made C-590 machine is a resin casting nightmare. The problem with this concept is that it uses self-threading plastic screws on parts that vibrate and are expected to hold tight adjustments. The result is the screws dethread. This wrecks havoc with the machine.Other customers have complained about bearing bushing and other levers that seat into the plastic casting. THESE parts will all eventually dethread and destroy the resin casting. The failure is guaranteed. It is the casting. Even the plastic self-tapping screw makers warn that screws will fail after 5 cycles of removal. So this machine was built to fail. This is not the fault of Brazil but of Singer faulty lax engineering.I am capable of fixing my own machines. I will add some photos of the broken components. Singer knows this. And when I have written them detailed photos showing the problem, they always shove it off and say it needs to go to a singer repair operation. NO IT DOESN'T. The plastic casting is defective and all Singer can do is sell you another defective plastic casting. Defective is a warranty issue. This part will eventually ALWAYS FAIL.So what do you do? If you are like me you tear your machines apart, repot the holes in metal epoxy and add machine inserts and re-engineer the product to last a little longer. But sooner or later this machine is doomed. So it is not worth it at any price. If you have not bought this machine... DON'T buy it. You are better off with a Brother, or even better a JANOME, or an older machine that will last a lifetime. One thing you can do. If you are mechanically inclined or know someone who is, get the service manual before you buy a machine and look at the kinds of screws used to hold the needle driver assembly and tensioner and cam. These are subject to vibration and if they are using self-tapping screws, avoid that machine. Look for machine screws into machined castings or inserts.
