About this item
- THE HANDLE: We design all of our products to be long-lasting, and this handle is no exception. The modern handle options include classic chrome, rose-gold metal, faux tortoiseshell, and black chrome.
- CLOSED COMB RAZOR: Grooming has never felt more nostalgic. This classic safety razor head has a closed tooth comb design that, paired with a gap behind the foam edge, prevents build-up. The blade angle is a special design for the closest shave.
- RECOMMENDED TECHNIQUE: For the cleanest shave, it is always recommended to keep the skin pulled taut and the blade should be drawn across the skin without applying any pressure at all. Shaving with the grain will have the best results.
- MÜHLE DIFFERENCE: Our actions are driven by an affinity with nature and a desire for the very highest quality. Expert know-how and pioneering spirit flow into every product, whether it be a handcrafted unique item or serially produced goods.

Sustainable Shaving
In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender. This journey began in 1945.
-
1945 - Founding
Otto Johannes Müller founds the business having returned from the war. He makes the first shaving brushes and designs the MÜHLE signet.
-
1965 - New Generation
Hans-Jürgen Müller takes over the company, which has grown to 40 employees. MÜHLE is exporting its products to 36 countries.
-
1972 - Expropriation
Under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller sells the company and MÜHLE becomes a state-owned enterprise.
-
1987 - Taking Leave
Now rebranded, the business manufactures brushes only for the state. Hans-Jürgen Müller becomes a self-employed brush maker.
-
1990 - New Beginning
A new Europe evolves, Hans-Jürgen Müller regains the family business and trades as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, the MÜHLE signet remains.
-
1995 - Celebrating 50 Years
MÜHLE struggles to survive after reunification. However, little by little, the company wins new customers and rehires former employees.
-
2006 - Boom
Dawn of a new Millenia. The offering is expanded to a full range of wet shaving goods. The MÜHLE brand comes to the fore.

MÜHLE Shaving Culture
For over 75 years, MÜHLE have designed, developed and manufactured the finest quality shaving products from family owned premises in historic Saxony, northern Germany. Today, MÜHLE razors, brushes and accessories are used by shaving enthusiasts the world over.
Designed & manufactured in Germany
During 1945, at a factory in Saxony, northern Germany, the MÜHLE Shaving Culture was born.
For three generations, a skilled workforce has handcrafted the finest shaving tools for discerning gentlemen who demand the best wet shaving experience.
Today, the Mühle Shaving Culture is committed to maintaining the high standards, dedication and pioneering developments of the past, as we continue to educate the ritual of the best wet shave.
Choose your own razor design & shaving style
Your choice of razor falls into three types of blade category;
- Gillette Mach3 multi-blade razor: The most popular type of razor in the shaving market, comprising of 3 blades in a plastic cartridge and ideal for a good no-frills shave. Each cartridge will yield 4-6 shaves.
- Gillette Fusion multi-blade razor: Comprising of 5 blades in a plastic cartridge and a precision trimmer for beard sculpting, Fusion razors offer a closer shave and each cartridge can last for up to 10 shaves.
- Double edge safety razor: Favoured by shaving enthusiasts for the closest possible shave and by eco-conscious wet shavers as a plastic-free shaving option. Furthermore, the ongoing costs of shaving with a safety razor is extremely low.
Your shaving brush - the centerpiece of wet shaving
For the most comfortable wet shave, you must first soften your beard using a shaving brush and lather. Your shaving brush works the lather into your skin and prepares beard hair for shaving.
For decades, MÜHLE have manufactured the finest shaving brushes offering a wide range of ergonomic handles, in both traditional and modern designs.
Most importantly, is the choice of shaving brush hair. Choose from the most moisture absorbent natural badger hair shaving brushes, or the latest man-made synthetic fibre shaving brushes to assist with your wet shave.
MÜHLE Shaving Stands
It is important to look after your razor and shaving brush correctly and increase the longevity of your item. After each shave, your razor will need to be rinsed clean in preparation for your next shave. If you use a shaving brush, this will also need to be rinsed thoroughly and hung in an upside-down direction to dry. To achieve this, Mühle offer a range of stylish chrome plated shaving stands. Choose from:
- Single razor stand
- Single shaving brush stand
- Shaving set stand with shaving bowl (4-piece set)
- Shaving set stand without shaving bowl (3-piece set)

I also watched mantic's videos on how to make a lather, shave, et cetera. Highly recommended.
It's a very well contructed razor, with no visible flaws and feels very secure even though you unscrew the handle to insert a razor blade. It feels nice, looks like a quality instrument, and is easy to grip with no sense of slipping even when wet (it is a little slippery with soap and water, but if I merely wiggle my fingers in the sink which has soapy water that gets the soap off and my grip is then secure). I don't think you can go wrong with this or with one of the metal Edwin Jaggers; I don't know if the extra $30 for this model with more knurling was worth it, but I'm very happy with my purchase and would order this one again. I figure that any extra knurling for a better grip is well worth it.
I've shaved around 5 or 6 times with it, and I feel like I'm getting the hang of it. I expect to be even more comfortable and proficient with it in another week. The first time (or two) I was VERY nervous and thought I was going to seriously hurt myself (I didn't, but the shave wasn't very good and my face felt like I had a bad case of razor burn). With a week of shaves, I'm now up to 3 passes and my face feels better, with less razor burn (barely any if I only shave over lathered areas, don't apply pressure, and use good angling technique). I don't apply any real pressure and let the blade/razor weight do the work, and while the first pass over my face feels a little rough, the 2nd and 3rd times go very smoothly and feel really nice. I actually look forward to shaving with this - I have NEVER looked forward to shaving with either an electric or a cartrige blade. Ever. I keep remembering from Mantic's video that each pass is "beard reduction," not beard elimination. Great advice.
I'm still getting the hang of shaving under my nose, and haven't (yet) tried shaving much against the grain, but it's already a closer and more comfortable shave than my electric Braun wet/dry 3 series (I prefer wet shaves), other electric Brauns and a wet/dry top of the line Panasonic, and a Gillette Mach 3 (and previously Mach 3's/Trac 2's). It doesn't "catch" nearly as much on the first pass as any cartridge I've tried, and for the 2nd and 3rd passes it doesn't catch at all. It also shaves under my chin and on my neck very nicely, which no electric has ever been able to do well (and I've tried 4+ electrics of every brand). I didn't bother trying a Fusion due to the outrageous cartridge prices.
I've nicked myself twice - once over my chin where I have a small bump (barely noticeable discomfort, although it did keep bleeding a tiny bit which was frustrating) and under my nose where I tried touching up a patch of whiskers without lathering it again. A good lather can be the difference between a really nice, smooth shave and a nicked, raw area of skin.
My neck has the best shave I've had, it's much easier on my face now after about a week of getting used to it (initially it was rougher, which I attribute to my technique), and I have caught myself thinking about shaving twice a day just to enjoy the experience more. I do find I get a much closer shave after a shower with less irritation, by the way.
Different shaving soaps make a huge difference - I use the Body Shoppe's shaving cream for men and Kiss My Face's shaving cream (in a bowl lathered up with the Ecotools kabuki brush). Lathering in a bowl with extra water makes a HUGE difference compared to simply putting shaving cream on my face. Lathering works far better for me.
I wholeheartedly recommend safety razors, and I wholeheartedly recommend this model as the one I will be using for a long time (unless I acquire Razor Acquisition Disorder, which I am told is common! If that happens, I will check out an open comb or adjustable model from someone). I do recomend getting a good starter pack with a variety of razors - I got mine from westcoastshaving.com as their pack came with the following blades - Feather, Merkur, Astra Platinum, Derby, Personna, Crystal, and Gillette. I couldn't find a starter pack on Amazon.com that had all of the ones that I wanted to try. I like the Astra blades; the Derbys felt rougher but that may have been my technique starting out so I wouldn't read much into that. I'm going to try a Merkur blade next. Keep in mind that new blades are around 50 cents a blade and last for at least as long as a cartridge, maybe a lot longer.
I actually look foward to shaving every day with this razor and think about how I can shave more often, not less - I think that says everything right there. Definitely watch some videos on making a good lather and how to use one of these, try a few different blades and shaving creams to find out which work best for you, and enjoy the experience - it's well worth your time.
Nowadays, the price is higher for a refill razors maybe $10, I believe the price increase due to its popularity in recent years . People are really discovering basic things that work well.
I dropped this razor many times personally and I’m sure at my husband did a few times as well but last year I dropped it for the last time, the head broke off.
I didn’t hesitate and bought a new one immediately. I would highly recommend
