For those looking for a comb that will last a REALLY long time; "unbreakable" even (notice the quotations =) I highly recommend a plastic comb, they are more flexible, easily placed into a back pocket and sat on for long periods of time with little to no degradation in the shape or effectiveness. This comb is made of wood however. It's a beautiful wood though. In my opinion I love the grain of the wood and the smell is heavenly, with a nice light color.
When I purchased this comb I bought it straight from amazon, shipped very quickly from an amazon warehouse. in the past when I've needed to return things to amazon for defects or such, they've always been quick and efficient at getting me my refund and the things I needed to return it. Given that this is wood I must warn people that between occasional roughness in shipping and the nature of wood itself it may have a tendency to arrive NON-perfect(one reviewer warned that his was cracked). Just start the return process and (at least amazon =) will get you taken care of.
For THIS review; So far has worked out nice. The thickness between the tines of the comb is large enough to accommodate my rather thick beard while the tines themselves are thin enough to get in between individual follicles nicely, and the tines being thick enough to stand up to the thick hairs themselves, and finally the tines of the comb do not have an overly scratchy feel. Semi-scratchy but just enough to feel nice and not feel bad on my own sensitive skin. I have put this comb through some punishment(3 days owned, will update if things change anytime soon, if it's been a year or more, well 10 bucks is worth it ~_^), this punishment is being placed in back pocket, sat on with a fairly hefty weight(umm... me.. working on that though!), and my pants would give it directional sheer stress because of this. It has so far stood up to it. The smell was unexpected as I'm not used to the smell of sandalwood, however it rather quickly grew on me and I find myself sniffing it "just because".
My beard is thick and unruly, and this is my first attempt at growing it out fully and not keeping it closely cut, so far this comb is helping(with many beards a comb alone is NOT enough!) with taming, specifically for the reasons listed above.
The reasons above are why I have given this comb 5 stars. I expected to have to purchase several combs to find one that didn't feel overly scratchy or had odd tine widths (both in distance and size). I got lucky first time with this one, and I feel the bonus sandalwood smell just puts the cherry on top. I am very happy with this purchase so far and would buy again. For those curious I have not noticed the sandalwood smell carry over to my beard itself and seems to remain strictly on the comb, and in the days I've had it so far the sandalwood smell has not diminished even slightly.
My recommendation would be to give it a shot if you need a beard comb.
update: 3/22/2015: The sandalwood smell has unfortunately finally diminished. I cannot seem to get it back, a hint is still there but otherwise no =( While I am sad of this development I knew it was inevitable. The comb is STILL working great as the original comb I thought it would be, my original review and the 5 star rating still applies with the sole exception that no more awesome sandalwood smell =(

Welcoming myself to the groomed beard lifestyle
I have been growing my curly beard longer than usual and needed something to groom it, and this is a perfect tool in my arsenal to achieve beard perfection. Pros: 1. Very good quality - overall it is very smooth and even. The teeth are evenly spaced. It is very durable and I expect it to last a long time. 2. The two teeth sizes on either side help with untangling and combing the beard to your style preferences. 3. Portable and elegant looking. Although it is a little heavy, it has a very good, sturdy hand feel, giving it an extra sense of quality. Cons: Not necessarily a con, but right out of the package it does have a woody smell. It is not entirely unpleasant and could be just a result of the manufacturing process, but I think it will dissipate over time. Overall, it is a good buy!
