Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

My son has a cut that is short in the front and it’s never just lied down until now! This product is simply amazing, it works so well it deserves 5 stars. Rub in your hands a few times to warm product before applying, holds well but isn’t too heavy
So trying some various pomades (Axe, Got2Be, American Crew) I looked on line and found the reviews for Murray's here on Amazon and bought a can. I still have not received my order but did a google search for the stuff in my local area (was going on a date last Friday and needed something) and found that Walgreen's sells the stuff for less that $5 a can (way cheaper than Axe and American Crew)....THIS STUFF FREAKIN WORKS LIKE MAD!!!!!!
I applied it as directed (even watched a youtube vid on how to get the slick euro look) and it was perfect. I have pretty thick hair but after only a few minutes of working it in, brushing it down, combing the part it, applying a bit of hair spray with a hair dryer, I had finally got the exact look I wanted. I'm taking a can to my stylist this Friday and giving it too her to recommend to other clients. I bought 2 more cans of it and left one on the shelf for the next guy.
It is super greasy and takes a good shampooing to get it out, but the look you have with it in is good enough.
I did find putting it in right out of the shower with wet hair had the best effect.
I didn't love it. I wanted to. I am new to short hair and find that a cream for texturizing makes a huge difference in the end style of my hair. Gives that definition I am looking for. With this I find no matter how little I do use I just look greasy. Maybe it is better for men but it didn't do it for me. I gave it several tries but I will stick with a cream. This is a harder base more like chap stick is, not that hard but you get the idea. What it would be good for is if you have a pulled back style and want to slick down all those fly-a-way ends. This would be your product! Perfect for that kind of styling or for men's hair. Now if I really read, it does say: Works best with VERY short hair and slicking down tight to head or hold up a stiff flat top, etc. Yep, would be perfect for that but not `sort of short hair.' Not a `texturizing kind of product. It is a good price and used for its intension then yes, it could be a good product! I gave it a four star based on not what it did for me but it will do what it says it will do. Not too gooy but would slick back hair nicely. It wasn't what I was looking for.
I bought my first tin of Murray's after my stylist convinced me to buy a much more expensive pomade.
Murray's was incredibly inexpensive and contained the same ingredients as my more expensive brand.
It is pretty thick. You need to rub your hands together quickly in order to get it pliable. When it is in your hair, however, it is a really great hold- not a stiff hold like gel or spray, but a pliable hold.
Not a knock in this product I guess, but it doesn’t do what I want. It’s very dense and thick and hard to mold or soften. This also makes it hard to apply. Provides great control once you wrestle it into place. No shine whatsoever which is odd for a pomade.
Lots of great reviews and it does seem to be a well made, quality product. Just not for me.
I tried to find the correct product for my thick black curly hair. I was looking for a month or so and everything I tried didn't work. Mouse made my hair too stiff, gel made it hard as a rock, wax and clay just didn't do anything at all to my hair. This stuff works awesome! Made my hair really curly and not hard or stiff at all. Still moves easily but has a shiny look to it, but not an exaggerated amount of shine. I love this stuff. It makes my hair look just like the long curly hair of the cast off of the HBO show Game of Thrones. Mostly it makes it look curly and shiny but not hard or stiff. Much like John Snow or anyone else on their with long curly hair.
I head so much about it and yep it has a superior hold... But applying it is a pain. I had to wash my hands thrice to make them less sticky...hair putty is a better option, I looking for a pomade which can give me a voluminous pompadour
