5.0 out of 5 starsBest sensitive skin groomer/shaver there is, zero maintenance
Reviewed in the United States on April 17, 2021
The fact that I'm here writing a review for this product means I either love it or hate it. Well I love it. It's the first and only shaver I can use safely on my junk with literally no concern of cuts or nicks whatsoever. You can go to town and press as hard as you want and you won't cut yourself with this guy, which is better than every product I've ever tried. Not only that but it gets a very close trim, to the point where I would say most electric foil shavers cannot get this close, and only wet shaving would be better. If you have a lot of hair to start with, I will warn it's a time consuming process to get that smooth, but you can get nearly baby smooth with it after 15 minutes or so, and with the bonus of not making yourself bleed or bracing yourself for pain constantly.

And it's reliable. Or at least it is for me. My purchase history shows I bought this 2 years ago and I have used it probably every other week for 2 years with few issues, plus my wife occasionally uses it as well. I recall changing the battery maybe twice in that time which is pretty unreal. One minor complaint is the included sensitive skin protector guard is cheap plastic and is slightly loose now and doesn't stay attached perfectly if I'm really aggressive with it, but if I go slower it stays on fine. However if that flimsy plastic guard breaks I would want to replace it, which probably means buying a whole new groomer just to get that little piece.

I would say, don't use this as a wet shaver. It claims to do that, but it doesn't work well at all. You really need to use it on dry skin to get the best results. If your skin is damp or wet it will not glide well and won't cut very well as a result. Don't even bother using it in the shower. Use it before your shower, not after.

I have been primarily using this as a nether region trimmer, but it's so good on those sensitive skin areas that I thought - after much washing, hehe - I would try it on my neckline around my beard. I always have issues with electric shavers in that area because my neck skin easily gets razor burned and irritated and red from electric shavers. Sure enough though, this magical little body groomer was able to take care of that area and get it very smooth with not a single red bump or irritation mark on my neck and no pain at all. Unbelievable. Not only does this groomer not clip your skin, it also doesn't EVER pull hairs. If you use a steady smooth technique and don't go too fast, you will literally not experience any discomfort whatsoever.

The fact that this thing is AA battery powered is a bonus to me. Every single shaver I've ever used for 20 years has a rechargeable battery that goes to crap after a year or less of charge cycles, but this little $20 groomer keeps on going. And you can throw it in a travel bag and it doesn't take up much space, and you don't have to lug around the charger everywhere. Lithium-ion shavers are total junk after a year and might as well be permanently connected to a power cord anyway because you'll never be able to unplug it by then.

I give this groomer an A+, and not only that it's arguably one of the best value-for-dollar items I own today. I might buy a couple more as backup just in case mine dies at some point. But so far it just keeps on working with no issues.

3.0 out of 5 starsFlimsy attachments break after limited use
Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2023
For the most part, this trimmer is what you pay for. It works fine as long as you put batteries in it, but the catch is the attachments. Particularly for more sensitive areas of the body, you cannot use this without them. If you don't use at least the smaller attachment comb, you will definitely cut your coin purse. The smaller attachment is better for your genitals because it cuts close enough without nicking the skin (usually). Unfortunately, I have found it if you try to use the smaller attachment on the pubic area, it'll cut the hairs too short, causing a lot of inflammation and ingrown hairs. On the other hand, the larger attachment is much better for their surrounding area, but is pretty flimsy and will break after multiple uses. I've already gone through two, because I managed to get the manufacturer to replace the original, but I think Norelco actually charges around $15 just for the Combs replacement. Do your balls a favor and spend a little bit more money on something better

Darlington
5.0 out of 5 stars Simple, affordable and SO effective
Reviewed in the United States on January 4, 2024

I was skeptical prior to purchase due to all the negative reviews but gave it a chance.

After a few months of testing my review is:

Two Big thumbs up!! This thing works!!! I prefer the regular battery option they went with in the design. It’s just as powerful and long lasting as a rechargeable. I haven’t had to change the battery since purchase and there’s no sign I need to yet. The fact that it’s waterproof is also a small miracle unto itself.
The extra plus factor is the price, affordable and effective.

Note:
It’s not a one swoop and you’re done.
With the long guard on you can swipe left to right up to down even diagonal and backwards and it won’t nip you. It’s easy to maneuver and the long guard provides that extra grace for no nips down there. When using the shorter guard do pay more mind to what you’re doing.

Also, make sure you’re “clearing” it out under running water while you’re body-scaping in order to keep the process flowing.
To minimize “material” getting caught in the chamber remove the guard to clean blades under running water then place it back and keep going for a smooth effortless trim.

The only con isn’t even about the razor or it’s performance, but the rubber/silicone cord they give - it works for hanging the device but note it always unravels and falls off otherwise. I note this so no one drops the razor playing a form of hot potato - just let the cord fall and hold onto the razor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Leaves me smooth as a freshly clipped lawn
Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2022

Ho boy, this thing.

Summed up: It works. Does what it needs to. Does it very well, in fact!
But it. Is. Sloooooowwww.

Listed:

First off. How close is the shave? Skin close. No stubble at all. Baby smooth. Dolphin skin smooth.

Head shape is nice and small, and shaves in two directions. Handy! Plus it's a good grip feel in the hand.

Battery is great so far. I use it every other day since I got it, and haven't charged yet.

Cleaning is pretty easy. The guide pops off, and since this thing is water resistant, you can just rinse it. The little gears can build up hair pretty easy, but the showerhead sprays it right out.

I've used it in the shower and it works fine. That said, I've found it cuts more easily on dry skin.

No bleeding!
Well, not really. I've gotten pinched a few times, but it's never hurt or broken skin. On one instance (shower shaving) it did irritate my tacky wet skin, so be careful there.
Has yet to tug on my, uh... areas with looser skin. So that's pretty great.

Okay, so, I love this thing. Works well.
But, as many other reviewers pointed out, this is NOT a first pass shave.
I have to hit the same spot a few times to get that smooth shave. It works slowly, very slow sometimes.
But it's a close shave, with no fear of cutting.

I can hack at my understuff like a woodsman having a bad day.
I can swipe along the grain like a suburban dad drunk off his cog and taking his mower speed to eleven.
And still no nicked bits.

It's turtle slow, but does exactly what I need it to.

This is my second purchase. The packaging seemed to have changed a bit and it doesnt come with a pocket anymore. But otherwise other things are pretty much the same. Cheap and works very well. Work in showers. Never had issues using it with water. Easy to use. My only complaint is also the reason why i had to buy it again: its a bit fragile. I dropped it in shower and it sort of broke, it still works but makes really loud noise. But thats just my clumsiness so ill just have to be careful..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Clean Shave… and the wife likes it too.
Reviewed in the United States on September 4, 2023

Once I got started I really didn’t know where to stop. Ended up doing a whole body shave pits to toes Tiny little close to the skin stubbles but way lots better than chemical burns or ingrown hairs. Like mowing the yard you may have to come at the hair from different directions. Just take your time, use a light pressure and don’t rush it. Work very well if the hair is less than a quarter inch to begin with.
There was a learning curve and the first shave took about a half hour. I did a whole body touch up the next morning in about ten minutes to pick up the stragglers. The wife liked the look and feel so much that I’m shaving every two to three days now.
With the regularity the full body shave takes less than fifteen minutes and any spots I may miss are caught on the next shave. I get five to six shaves on one battery before I notice the slowing of the motor and I change to a new battery before it may affect the quality of the shave.
All in all it’s easy to use and easy to keep clean. We are both really happy with the product and most of all the wonderful results.
I would suggest you get the PFB Roll-on for your manly underparts after you shave. Absolutely no ingrown hairs after three months of shaving.

Enjoy Yourself…

UPDATE!!
We liked the sharpness, ease and clean shaven results from this shaver so much we bought a second one to keep on the shelf incase they become unavailable later in the future. For the price it is well worth it as a sort of insurance that I can keep my body smooth, clean shaven, and well groomed for my wife’s (and my) pleasure… Thanks…

It gently cuts close enough to leave the skin smooth and free of annoying stubble. And I used it on the most sensitive of areas resulting in NO irritation or cuts. I'm definitely happy with the results!

1.0 out of 5 stars Here's what you really need to know:
Reviewed in the United States on August 11, 2019

DON'T PASS THIS REVIEW. THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

I got this product two months ago. It was easy to set up and start using. I got it for my groin area as my gf prefers that area well kept. Initially, the product worked reasonably well. It comes with a cover to protect your nether region and the cover by and large works (on occasion it caught hair funny, but was perfectly okay on any portion of my groin area). You can remove the cover for a closer trim and you are still relatively safe, but I felt better with the cover on.

Razor is easy to clean as the cover pops right off. It does take a while going over the same areas repeatedly to get it to work. It is a 15-20 minute process going over and over to continue trimming to get it down. You really have to hold it just right (correct angle) to get it to work at all.

Sounds good so far, right? A razor you can easily and safely use? So why the 1-star review, you ask? It's a piece of junk.

I only used the razor twice and it stopped working. The warranty for replacement is 45 days, so at just under 60 it won't turn on. I tried brand new batteries and nothing. It had been sitting in a drawer, so it wasn't damaged. Had new batteries. Stopped working after 2 uses and conveniently right after the warranty/return policy ended.

These guys know their product. They know that it works (albiet slowly). They also know exactly HOW LONG it will work and then stop working so you buy another. THIS PRODUCT IS A $20 DISPOSABLE RAZOR. Every 2 months you will have to buy another. At that rate, just get a $120 razor that works faster, has more options, a longer warranty, and is built to last.

If you read enough reviews, you'll find lots of them that barely made it past the 45 day return policy and died. Maybe you've got a situation where you are going to start dating someone who likes a man "fully groomed" and you aren't sure it will last, so you want a cheap razor that can kind of get the job done for a month or so. If so, this the razor for you. For everyone else that wants a razor they don't have to replace every other month, find yourself something else a little nicer and more permanent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for "the boys"

What I like:

1. With the smallest guard, no nicks to the jewels but incredibly close to the skin.

2. Long battery life with Energizer lithium battery.

3. Water resistant.

4. Reliability. Had my first one for several years.

5. The fact that your can go in both directions without changing hand positioning.

What I don't like:

1. A little pricey for a single purpose item, but if it lasts as long as the first one, it'll will have paid for itself soon enough.

This is my 2nd one. The first one I had for years, and though it technically still works, I dropped it and the bladed part broke off the head recently (like in the pic another reviewer posted). I use it exclusively for my junk, so I wanted to grab another before they decide to quit making it. If left unattended, i can get get out of control quickly, so it goes through thick hair well if you take your time, as you should with the nuggets.

While it is water resistant, I never had good luck using it wet, so I use it dry. It gets clogged up too easily when wet. The smallest of the 2 guards gets surprisingly close (the closest I've really ever gotten in an item for this purpose) and while every man's junk is different, I personally never got nicked. The only other item I've used successfully (and I've tried half a dozen different items at least) is the wahl micro groomsman, but that's an ear and nose trimmer, so the head is small, and adds extra time to the grooming process.

If treated/maintained properly, this $20 tool can last a very long time! This is not an indestructible piece of kit, so you want to take care of it. One drop could break it, as I did mine (another reason I chose to only use dry), so durability is adequate for what it is. I trim on average once a month, so battery life has been excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars No need to spend a dollar more, manscaped take notes
Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2024

I used to be a fan of the manscaped product line, but lost my last lawnmower in a recent move. As a result, I didn't want to spend another $100 on a razor, although I knew was good, didn't warrant the price. I read plenty of good things online and decided to plunge into the Norelco for only $20. I came in open minded since it wouldn't be too expensive to recover from, but I'm glad I did!

This razor is BETTER than any of the others I've owned, the shave is close and significantly less nicks with this than any other. "Nick-free" is a bit gimmicky, but this was the closest to truly being that. I did get nicked, but it was nowhere near as bad as pretty much any other you compare, and it was the least frequent I've experienced. I'm convinced, never a need to spend a dollar more!
