I got this for my fetch-crazy dog and she absolutely loves it! She has destroyed rope toys and tennis balls within days, but this toy so far has endured. I originally thought it would fly like a frisbee but it is too heavy to really soar. That said, she loves chasing after it. We throw it so it will land and roll and as it can be erratic in its movement, my dog has crazy fun chasing it. We also toss it up in the air and then she does jump to catch it like a frisbee. She will also play tug of war with it (for just a bit) and it is really durable. I like that it is soft on her mouth so she hasn't cut her tongue or lips on any sharp edges. It does get incredibly slimy with her drool after a few minutes of play, but we wear a glove to handle it. If we are playing with a different toy, our dog will often run off and grab this one from its storage place. We do NOT let her have it when we are done playing fetch ... not sure if she could chew through it then, but in regular, rough play, it has held up well. The bright yellow color makes it easy to find if it lands in the bushes. Easy to wash off and keep clean.

My labrador LOVES this toy. After almost a year of play, this toy continues to provide tons of fun. I have bought so many toys that have been torn apart in hours, or minutes, but this toy is terrific - it doesn't fly as far as a frisbee, but my dog loves to catch it in the air, and the hole in the middle along with the waved design makes it easy for him to pick up off the ground. In fact, after playing with this toy, he broke a hole into the middle of a regular frisbee so he could pick it up... after a year of tug and fetch, the toy is just starting to show signs of wear/cracking along the edges of the inner hole, but it still has tons of life left in it. We have an almost daily play session with the neighbor dog (a labradoodle), and he also loves this toy. If they aren't running after it, they are playing tug with it. My dog carries this into the water with him, and the fact that it floats means it is perfect for my water dog to fetch in a pool or lake. I've put this in the dishwasher a few times as well, and it comes out great. This toy has definitely been worth the cost - I wish all toys in this price range were as durable! Don't hesitate - give this toy a try!

These Frisbees are amazing. I have two VERY chew-happy dogs, who both have some Labrador and pit in them (50lbs and 60lbs), and I've been very impressed that these toys have held up so well. I try not to let the dogs use them as chew toys unsupervised, but even when I accidentally do, they aren't able to easily start ripping them up. Eventually, the dogs will get a chunk out, and the Frisbees will start slowly deteriorating. It still takes about six months from the time I bought them until they're completely destroyed, which is amazing when it comes to my dogs. I had one of these which was just a sad, gnawed-on half, and it still flew really well. It accidentally flew over the neighbor's fence, in fact. That was the end of that Frisbee, but not because it was poor quality.

The dogs love these, and I must have two, so the they won't whine at each other for a chance to play with them. I've tried a lot of other Frisbees, as my dogs are 9 and 11, respectively. Even Kong Frisbees don't hold up this well, and they can be way more expensive. Very happy I stumbled upon these. I doubt I will ever get anything else.

Durable and soft on the mouth

This frisbee is my 40 pound Staffordshire/Pit Terrier’s favorite toy! She is a super strong chewer who chases the frisbee and returns with it to play tug before chasing it again. It is a sturdy solid rubberized material that holds up well. It is easy on my hands to hold for tugging by hooking my fingers through the center of the ring. We have played with it about 30 times now and it still has no tears or holes. The rim is very thick and solid. It transitions to a more flexible, thinner center area which she gets her teeth around and chews making her jaw muscles flex like they are spring loaded. It is really easy to clean with a hose, in the sink or even top rack of the dishwasher. It is actually quite heavy so is not the best frisbee for distance. However, with a good strong arm and throw, you can lob it out there pretty far. This has been her most favorite and the most durable frisbee we have had so far. Highly recommended.

Quiet Dissidence

Great rolling dog toy but not very good at flying.

The 4 star rating is because the item does not function as advertised. All other aspects are great.

I purchased a West Paw Design Air Dash and a West Paw Design Zisc hoping one would fit our needs ( a durable flying disc). The Zisc flies well considering it's made of rubber however it wasn't durable enough for my moderate chewer. I believe the thin center enables it to fly well but in turn doesn't hold up after a few short play sessions.

The Air Dash on the other hand is very durable for a moderate chewer, it is easy for dogs to pick up (even a large breed with a large muzzle), and it does float. The downside is it is not a good flyer...its more like chucking a small tire. By chance we discovered it rolls on its side exceptionally well. The edges are wavy, so it has a dynamic wobbly path that my dog (who has a high prey drive) loves to chase and pounce on.

~Air Dash isn't the great flying toy we had hoped for, but has other attributes that still make it a great toy.
~The Zisc probably is the better flyer (*but does not top the flight pattern of a plastic frisbee) that is gentle on the mouth but will only hold up if your dog is gentle with their toys
~West Paw Design has an excellent customer service/satisfaction guarantee. I was refunded for my Zisc *they also give you the option to exchange for a different toy from their line up.

Great company with great products. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. They also have a recycle program for when the toy needs to be retired.

A Great Dog Chew Toy, A Horrible Frisbee

I have a Boxer puppy that loves to chase frisbees. Unfortunately, she also likes to chew frisbees, so the search is always on for more durable toys. I figured we'd give this one a try.

=== The Good Stuff ===

* It is durable. It has survived a few weeks with her, already a record, even for "durable" toys. It attracts her attention, so it is not as if it survived because it is not played with...I often see her carrying it around and chewing on it.

* The yellow color is pretty bright, and it is easy to spot in the green grass. It is more of a challenge when the grass is brown.

* There are no awful odors coming from the material. No idea what it is made out of, but at least it doesn't smell toxic.

=== The Not-So-Good Stuff ===

* While it is durable, it is a horrible frisbee. It arrived sort of warped and ovoid, and it hasn't gotten any better since. After a few weeks, it sort of looks more like a potato chip than a frisbee.

* Throwing it is a challenge. It is very heavy- I didn't weigh it, but it weighs at least twice as much as the heaviest frisbee I have ever seen. Coupled with the oddball shape and size, it is difficult to throw more than 20-30 feet....and I can throw a normal frisbee a long way. That sort of defeats the purpose of the toy in my mind, which is to get my pup to run as much as possible so she tires herself out. It doesn't fly straight, and forget about catching it.

=== Summary ===

This is a pretty good "durable dog toy", and it seems to be holding up just fine to the abuse that my dog can dish out. However it is a horrible frisbee that it tough to throw and doesn't fly straight or far.

Worth the price. My dog can destroy a toy within minutes if not well made. Even those that are well made he can destroy in a week. This one has lasted and aside from being dirty has no holes, teeth marks, or rips. It is easy to clean. The only complaint on this is it doesn’t fly super far, but it flies far enough and the dog loves it. I highly recommend this toy!
Update: This is seriously one of the best dog toys we have ever had. Our dog uses it constantly. It has been well over a year and it is still holding strong. Yes it has some cracks in it. No it doesn't fly like a normal frisbee. That is okay with me. Our dog has not been able to destroy it even after 15 months.

This doesn’t throw like a frisbee (too heavy), however my frisbee obsessed (frisbee OCD, really. He stares at the top of the fridge where we keep the frisbee with his lip quivering every time you walk near the fridge hoping you’ll grab it) dog LOVES it. And it’s the thickest, most bite resistant frisbee-like toy that we’ve had that he hasn’t been able to destroy quickly. He tries to hide it from you so he can chew on it and when he does that with other “indestructible” frisbees, they’re bitten through and have pieces gone within minutes. But this one he has snuck away several times for long periods of time, and it has so far survived. So although not super frisbee-like, it’s definitely a better buy than others. We still get other ones for our dog to have long runs though, we just have to buy those more frequently than this.

One tough dog toy!

I am back for a second West Paw Zogoflex Air Dash frisbee after nearly two years of regular use and constant exposure to Florida weather! My highly competitive Shetland Sheepdog LOVES frisbees and we couldn’t keep one past a week or two before having to replace it. She also likes to play tug and keep away with our other dogs and it has held up perfectly. The first blemish after months of use was my husband’s doing for leaving it too close to the grill and melting a little hole in the frisbee! It took a few uses to get the hang of throwing it because it is heavier and doesn’t fly as far as a regular plastic frisbee, but it works perfectly for our backyard. I highly recommend this for any dog who lives for chasing frisbees and isn’t easy on the traditional plastic ones!!

Our dogs would tear most frisbees apart within days, hours, minutes... This one holds up to tug games and rough play (at least from two dogs in the 60-70 pound range). I've bought two of these, and the older one has finally started to rip in spots after about two years of use, yet is still intact enough to throw. One thing to note is you won't throw it very car like a conventional frisbee, but if you throw it vertically (so it lands and rolls on its end) it work great. The dogs seem to like it more than way anyway because they can see it the whole time they're chasing it. So while $20 would normally be more than I'd pay for a dog frisbee, this one has proven its worth.
