I am a knitter so I already had a plastic needle sizer. Highly recommend one since not all of the knitting needles have the size printed on them.
Pros:
1. Comprehensive set
2. Extremely inexpensive. $8 for any size I'd possibly need? Sign me up!
3. Quick to arrive
4. Larger sizes seem sturdy.
5. MM sizes engraved on needles. Very handy!
I've only used the size 4 needles so far and they have been fab.
Neutral: This is an $8 set. There is no fancy packaging, but each size comes in its own little cellophane packet.
Cons: I'm being nitpicky here. This is a full set of double-pointed needles for $8. And most of them are awesome. But you're going to want to be aware of the cons so you know what you're getting, so here goes:
1. Some of the needles have a scent to them. I have a very sensitive nose and it's not overwhelming. However, if you have a super sniffer you might want to be aware that a couple of needles have a scent. To reiterate: It's not hideous, but it's there.
2. The points on some of the smaller needles are inconsistent. I apologize that there is no picture to demonstrate. On all of my other pictures Amazon was all, "I'll upload these no problem!" but for some reason it had a hissy fit on the one showing the differences in points. Most are uniform, but I had a couple of super sharp ones and a couple of blunt ones. One is literally squared off. Not a huge deal is it's on one of the very small sizes so will unlikely to be used much. Which leads into point 3...
3. Although the smaller size are included I would caution that they are VERY thin. Bamboo plus teeny tiny needles = easy to bend and break. To use US sizes 0-3, you would need to be *excessively* gentle and careful with them. If you're looking for mainly tiny sizes, this set of needles may not be for you and I advise looking at much sturdier steel or aluminum needles.
4. For the most part, the larger the needles are, the smoother they are. The size 4 that I have used are fine, but I have noticed when running my fingers over some of the others that they are not completely smooth. I would have to knit with them to find out if they need to be sanded - according to my fingers they'll probably be ok, but yarn may express a different opinion. Only one has a large defect though...which brings me to point 5.
5. One has a large defect that will make it impossible to use without modification (see photo). I'm ok with 1/75 being a bit dodgy.
6. Almost all the needles have the size engraved on them. A couple the engraving didn't quite take. Meh. Not a huge problem. It's just something to note.
Overall, after using them (well...one size...) for a few days I'm very happy with these needles. I recommend them for beginners. If you're an expert knitter who knits a lot and knits fast, these are not the needles for you...you're going to want a much more sturdy and expensive set. However, for a beginner these are perfect. :kisses fingers:

Each size is in its own cellophane baggie inside a larger cellophane baggie, inside a plastic baggie. When I got them, one of the inner baggies was opened and the needles were poking through, and one 6mm (US 10) needle is missing. I have others in that size anyway, and $7 for a 74 piece set is unbeatable. It's still a great set for the price, perfect for a beginner's toolbox.
The smallest sizes seem surprisingly sturdy, I'm looking forward to learning to make socks on them!
