5.0 out of 5 starsExceptional shave for sensitive skin

Pros: always comfortable (except when stubble is longer, see cons), always clean, always charged (I use the cleaning stand, so it cleans and charges after each shave.) Love this shaver!

Cons: Doesn't handle longer stubble well. If I go more than 4 or 5 days between shaving, pulls on some hairs and misses others. When I have longer stubble to shave, I use my trimmer to get the hair short enough for the shaver to take care of. Also, I do not like the trimming attachment. I have a separate trimmer with multiple heads to take care of trimming.

3.0 out of 5 starsExcellent Shaver - Cleaning System Not So Much
Reviewed in the United States on September 3, 2019
I bought this shaver 2 months ago and I wanted to use it a bit before posting a review. All in all I really like it. It shaves very close and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. I have one complaint though. After several shaves I ran it through the cleaner and charger. On the 2nd shave after the cleaning cycle the shaver stopped mid-shave. When I couldn't figure out why it was stopping I decided to take apart the shaving heads. As you can see from the photos above the cut whiskers get trapped between the cutter and the foil head. All 3 photos were taken right after I ran the cleaner cycle. The cleaning cycle does not remove them, only gets them wet. This then causes the motor to seize up. I have tried it a few more times and am getting the same result. What good is it to sell a shaver with a cleaning unit when the cleaner does not clean the shaving heads? So my bottom line is this: would I buy the shaver alone again? Yes, in a heart beat. Would I buy it again with the cleaning unit? No

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all around electric shaver

I bought this product a week ago, needed to be charged out of the box(no biggie), once I had the cleaning stand situated and charging the razor,(first off, I have a goatee and my head is bald) so once I started using it, it took a bit to get used to the pattern you needed to shave, with the 3 circular blades, you don't need to he going up and down, it needs to be in a circular massage pattern, cuts best, even on 3 day stubbles, it was a plus that I could actually shave my head and the blades bend in to contour to the scalp and can be used in the shower, the base basically cleans the blades, I havent opened the unit yet to see if the blade housing itself needs to be washed out of the hairs, my wife loves it as well, oh I forgot to mention, we both use gel shaving cream with it, my poor shaver(lol) she shaves her arms and legs with it, may need to buy her one as well, but overall, I love it

This is the best electric shaver I have ever owned and I'm so happy I took the risk to spend a little extra. Once you get the shaver water refill stuff. Like 20 bucks and it lasts 6 months. Every 5 shaves I sharpen the shaver and it's great. Smooth shave, no rashes (this is the main reason I even bought this) oh and pro tip: after shaving and BEFORE sharpening, open up the shaver and rinse out any leftover hairs and whiskers. This will keep your shaving liquid, used to sharpen and clean, clear of hairs that will clog over time. Did that to my first round.. Worth the money and easy to use compared to shave cream or gel and a razor which can be quite the hassel and have to go thru a ton of razors

4.0 out of 5 stars 7500 v. 9700
Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2017

Very nice Norelco for sensitive skin, and for use with foam or gel. The "Comfort Rings" really are effective at reducing irritation, and reduce friction gliding across your face using shaving creme. It's lighter weight (5.8 oz) than the 9700 (6.1 oz), and slightly shorter and slimmer for smaller hands. The color scheme matches the heads, and (to me) is an attractive change over silver or black, and the white/grey/blue combination shows less (eventually) soap or hard water film than the black body of the 9700 or 9300. About the same noise level running or cleaning. The 7500 is considerably cheaper than the 9700 - about $100 cheaper. Uses the same SmartClean cartridges, a plus, and the cleaning cycle runs about as long in the identical-appearing SmartClean station. The 7500 SmartClean station icons are brighter and easier to read, though fewer of them - on/off, cleaning, charging, finished. Replacement heads are slightly cheaper, and last about the same by report - around a year. The cutters are slightly different in the 7500 - SH70 vs SH90 - and seem to provide a more comfortable shave by comparison, but I can't tell whether the cutters or the Comfort Rings are the major factor in the difference; they just work. The 7500 uses similar accessories as the 9700 (they may even be interchangeable, although the connectors appear slightly different), and individual cutting head replacements are readily available for the 7500 (SH70). Both shavers use Li-Ion batteries, both recharge in about an hour, and both provide about an hour of shaving time. Both are quality built razors, made in the Netherlands.

Now the downside of the cheaper 7500 -

Only one battery icon - it shows a fully charged or a low battery. No real in between, although Norelco describes some sort of blinking code for one shave left, or not. Practically, it just shows you when the battery needs to be recharged. The 9700 shows the actual percentage of charge left, and even its sister shaver the 9300 has 5 diminishing bars so you know approximately how much charge is left. The SmartClean station for the 7500 has no drying function, where the 9700 station dries (in 4 hours) with induction heating, so the 7500 is left to air dry, which could take more than 24 hours, and the stations are not interchangeable. If you shave daily and you shave dry, you may need to manually dry the shaver before use. The 7500 has 5 rotational movements in the head, the 9700 has 8, although to me this was not apparent or significant - if you're pressing the head hard enough to go through the full range of motion on either head, you're likely pressing too hard. Your mileage may vary. The actual cutting ability and closeness of the shave for either shaver was to me very similar or identical, although the cutters on the 7500 do seem to slow down when going through thick gel or foam - if you shave wet you'll need to rinse the head more often. This brings up the last minus - there is no adjustment on the speed of the 7500, unlike the 3-speed adjustment on the 9700. The 7500 is basically on or off.

So there it is, warts and all; I actually really like the shaver, and it's a perceptible and significant improvement in comfort over the 9700/9300. And unfortunately, it doesn't appear you can just take the Comfort Ring head and snap it on the 9700 to get the best of both worlds - at least the 9700 won't fit in the 7500 SmartClean station and vice-versa, and I'm not sure if the gear ratios or speeds for the two shavers would match up. Although lacking some of the information and convenience do-dads of its 9000 Series cousins (1 star off for that to be fair), it's still a great razor and a bargain by comparison, but by no means cheap in the world of high end razors, and I highly recommend it for those with sensitive skin or who want what's probably the most comfortable shave you can get with an electric razor.

Okay tipsy LADY review incoming, when i bought this i thought i was just getting razor and charger, didnt read what i was actually getting because online research. So this charging base, with cleaning solution is freaking awesome (also okay so it says dont refill, you can buy QUATS though, its the blue cleaning solution you see in hair and nail salons, hospital grade, or oster blade spray, which is also the only other thing used in hair salons for your clippers when it comes to cleaning. So you can totally refill and not polute the planet with as much plastic if you get QUATS. But personally id go with the oster, its nicer to the blade, but then whats the point of the base, both wont hurt. Depends on how often you need to use it kinda).

Now, how well it works. I love this thing. I use it on my legs and arms, some minor bikini areas like not on the labia but it definitely follows the curve better than my specifically for ladies electric on the direct bikini line. But as for my legs. I no longer get razor bumps. Its super easy on the knees and no cuts!!! Never ever. Love this razor. Do it do it do it. No more five blades. But i will say its not like the closet shave. And my hair starts light and becomes dark only on the legs. And arms. So if youre in the sun and getting that sun bleached hair, you're probs okay, but if its super thick and dark this might not be your way unless you dgaf.

If you are looking for a prefect gift for a special someone look no further! I got this for my husband as a Father’s Day gift and he absolutely loves this! It works great and the battery last! His left side of his face has some nerve damage from when getting his wisdom teeth pulled as a teen. So it is really sensitive! He told me that this shaver doesn’t bother him at all! It works great! He shaves once in the morning and is good all day! His facial hair grows fast but with using this he looks clean cut all day! Perfect for all the military guys that have to stay clean cut all day! I highly recommend! He absolutely loves the base and the fact that it cleans the razor so that way when he uses it he has a clean and prefect shave every time! 110% highly recommend!

I had to replace my 20 yr old Norelco finally so I looked hard at its replacement. Great razor/system. After nearly three months this one has been great! It shaves very close & without razor burn. I use it as a "wet" razor and it's been easy to clean & use. the complaints about the cleaning/recharging unit have been greatly exaggerated. I use it once a week and it works well & with no noise. It would have been nicer to have a color other than black as it does kind of jump out at you on a white sink top. My only complaint is that it did not come with the trimmer attachment. I even contacted Phillips-Norelco and never received a reply. I have a small groomer any way, so NBD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the money!

I purchased this razor six months ago. I kept waiting to write a review hoping that I might eventually find something good about this thing. Well, that’s not happening. I bought this to replace another Philips-Norelco unit that worked great except that replacement blades/heads were no longer available. Thanks a lot P-N!

As far as what is wrong with this:

Let’s start with the shaving head. The enclosed design of the head makes it very difficult to keep clean. The older “open” head on my last P-N razor was much easier to rinse out as water could flow right through and take debris with it. You can see the difference in the photo with the two heads side-by-side. I have found that the only way to successfully clean out the head is to take it apart and use an old toothbrush to scrub it clean. I keep wondering just how long plastic parts that snap together will last with repeated daily disassembly and reassembly.
I consider the cleaning/charging base (which is huge compared to the picture in the ad—see photo) to be somewhat ineffective and just another gimmick to get customers to buy more products. After rinsing and cleaning the razor by hand, once I use the cleaning feature, I find more debris deposited in the shaving head that was obviously lodged in some crevice somewhere. Regarding the size of the charging/cleaning base—if you have limited space on your sink or vanity; you will probably find this to be annoying. It is quite large and the picture in the ad is deceiving. You can, however, plug the cord directly into the razor and charge without the base.
Another issue is that when rinsing the razor, water runs through the razor body and comes out the opening where the electrical connector is. This is not a safety issue and the manual says this is normal. However, while water runs through the razor body, so does everything else! And the cleaning solution does not get up into the body when using the cleaning base so any gunk that gets in there stays there. As a result, the razor begins to take on a very foul smell after a while. My solution is to use a little bit of Hibiclens antimicrobial soap (available in most pharmacies and super markets) in warm water. I run some through the razor body, let it sit for a little while and then rinse it out. While the razor body is sitting, I throw the razor head into the solution to soak as well. I find this to be more effective than the cleaning base. It smells nice, too!
Lastly, I would be remiss if I failed to mention the quality of the shave. The key word here would be “lousy!” I am truly appalled at how much this razor misses. The design of the head makes getting into tight areas difficult. It’s fine for knocking off any major stubble but it just will not remove all whiskers. So if I want to look like I really shaved, I must resort to the trusty old blade. If I had purchased some $40.00 cheapie, I wouldn’t expect much. But for $169.00, my expectations were a bit higher. I think that my Stihl line trimmer would give a better shave. I would not recommend this razor.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, efficient shaver
Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2018
Verified Purchase
I have now owned the 7500 shaver for five months. It has proven to be an outstanding performer for me, I would give it 5 stars is the replacement heads were less expensive. It gives a remarkably comfortable and close shave. I had previously owned the well reviewed and less expensive 4500 series that did an adequate job but does not compare to the feel and performance of this one. What I particularly like is how the three head rotar shape fits my face around my nose and jawline. I find this style for my face structure is very efficient; I timed it and actual shaver -to-face time is two minutes. Using an inexpensive shaving gel on a wet face works well for me. I was hesitant about the cleaning system and how long the cleaning cartridges would last. I have used the cleaning system daily, and the first cartridge just ran out, so each one lasts about 5 months, which is actually very economical. The system is rather large so it doesn't fit on our counter, I charge it every day in the adjoining bedroom. I am very happy with this shaver and would give it 4-1/2 stars if that were an option.
